Councillor Clodagh Higgins appointed Peace Commissioner for Galway County and surrounding counties.  

Fine Gael Councillor Clodagh Higgins has been appointed Peace Commissioner by Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Minister James Browne TD to serve the City and County of Galway and surrounding counties.

The appointment is an honorary, unpaid position and consists of taking statutory declarations, witnessing documents and signing certificates and orders.

Councillor Higgins received her official documents from the Department of Justice for the prestigious appointment last week.

Councillor Higgins said “I am honoured and privileged to accept this honorary position of Peace Commissioner. I envisage that my appointment will further enhance the work that I do in my community. My grandfather was also a Peace Commissioner, and I am proud to be following in his footsteps in serving my community” Councillor Higgins concluded.
