Councillor confirms energy saving public lighting is to be installed at city estate
Fine Gael Councillor Clodagh Higgins has today confirmed Highfield Park is set to receive new energy efficient LED lamp heads next week.
Councillor Higgins said “I recently received representations from a number of residents regarding poor lighting at the estate which was causing a large degree of concern particularly from a health and safety perspective.
On foot of those representations, I contacted Galway City Council and advised of the need to luminate the location  and asked for a scheme of improvement works to be developed”.
Councillor Higgins continued “I was informed this week that as a result of my representations, Highfield Park will now be made a priority area for essential works which will commence next week”.
“Works will consist of the replacement of the existing lamp heads with energy efficient LED lamp heads. The new heads will provide a greater visibility all in the area who utilize the public spaces, road and footpaths”.
Councillor Higgins concluded “I have been reassured that these works will be unobtrusive to the residents in the area and will cause no disruption”
